LCV Economic Efficiency Study

In March, 2001, Alberta Infrastructure/Transportation commissioned Woodrooffe and Associates to review the  economic efficiency of Long Combination Vehicles (LCVs) in Alberta.  The study results indicate that the ability to efficiently use LCVs in the truck sector enhance the direct economic costs by 29% and the fuel efficiency by 32% for the trucking mode.  It was also demonstrated that LCVs minimize greenhouse gas emissions and result in a 40% reduction in pavement wear on highway infrastructure.
