Western Canada Transportation Infrastructure Strategy for an Economic Network
| British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba formed the Western Transportation Ministers Council (WTM) to develop a consistent regional approach to transportation policy, planning and regulatory harmonization. The Council was created to provide a common front in working with the federal government on inter-provincial matters.
The vision of the WTM is to take a leadership role in articulating the infrastructure and policy needs for an efficient, integrated, safe and equitable western Canadian transportation system. The WTM prepared this executive briefing, entitled Western Canada Transportation Infrastructure Strategy for an Economic Network: A Time for Vision and Leadership, because a new strategy to revitalize Canada's deteriorating transportation infrastructure, particularly roads, is long overdue. This briefing is intended to challenge the federal government and other leaders to make transportation infrastructure reinvestment a top priority. |
