Environmental Management System & Regulatory Framework
The Department has responsibility for the Province's extensive transportation network and water management infrastructure, including, but not limited to, highways, bridges, culverts, ferries, dams, reservoirs and canals. The Department has a business goal of providing safe, efficient and sustainable transportation and water management infrastructure through effective planning, design, construction, rehabilitation, operation, maintenance and decommissioning. An EMS is an organized and formal approach to managing environmental issues with the goal of making environmental considerations part of daily activities. At its core, the purpose of the EMS is to identify and responsibly manage the potential environmental impacts of the Department's activities and projects.
