QEII at 65th Avenue Interchange (Leduc)
The Alberta Government is partnering with the City of Leduc and the Edmonton International Airport (EIA) for a new interchange in Leduc at 65th Avenue and the QEII Highway.
The new interchange is the next step in connecting industrial development south of Leducís 65th Avenue with the EIAís Perimeter Road.
The interchange will help reduce congestion on the QEII at both Highway 39 and Airport Road, while providing a major new connection to developments in Leduc and at the EIA. It will also provide an alternate route to the west end of Leduc.
While the details will be finalized with the completion of the design, the project is expected to include:
·††††††† A new bridge over the QEII, adjacent to the existing 50 street bridge in the City of Leduc
·††††††† New on-ramps from the QEII and improvements to some existing ramps
·††††††† Intersection improvements at 65th Avenue and 50th Street in Leduc
·††††††† Completion of Perimeter Road and 65 Avenue (west of the QEII) to better connect the City of Leduc and the EIA
The Alberta Government, the City of Leduc and the EIA each previously contributed $1.2 million for the detailed design work and cost-shared the $412,000†planning study†for this project.
Detailed design, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2019, is required to better estimate the total costs and project timelines. Land acquisition and utility relocation will be necessary before construction can begin.
