Alberta Transportation Hydrotechnical Information System (HIS) Installation Instructions : To install this tool, download the file "HIS.zip" from the WWW site and extract the three files to any local folder. All three files (HIS.xls, HIS.mdb, Stream Slope.mdb) should be located in the same folder. The tool is run by opening the HIS.xls file in Excel. The tool uses visual basic for applications (VBA) code, and therefore the Excel security settings may need to be modified to enable this function. Additional zip files are available for download from the WWW site. Once installed and referenced within HIS (see "Instructions" tab), available reports for the selected bridge site will be displayed by pressing associated buttons within HIS. These files are as follows: flood*.zip (flood observation documents in PDF format, multiple files) filehist.zip (file history summaries for many sites in PDF format), summaries.zip (hydrotechnical summaries with design parameter recommendations in PDF format) BTReports.zip (banktracking files in PDF format) ScourReports.zip (pier scour survey reports in PDF format) These files are optional, but enhance the functionality of the HIS tool. Each download file type should be unzipped into its own folder, as there are many files in each group. Once referenced, the HIS.xls file should then be saved so that these settings will be stored for future use. Additional update files will be added regualary, typically in the .zip format. These files should be unzipped and stored in the appropriate folder.
