Stoney Trail / Crowchild Trail Interchange

The Stoney Trail Extension Project will connect Highway 1 (Trans-Canada Highway) to Highway 2 (Deerfoot Trail).  When completed it will be a four lane divided roadway located in the northwest quadrant of the city.  The project has been divided into various components with varying completion dates.  The entire extension is scheduled to be complete in the fall of 2009, weather permitting.

Stantec Consulting has been engaged by Alberta Transportation for the design and construction management of the Crowchild Trail interchange.  Associated with the interchange, is the realignment of Tuscany Boulevard and it's connection to Stoney Trail.  The Crowchild interchange and the Scenic Acres Link interchange will replace the existing signalized intersections on Stoney Trail at Scenic Acres Link, Tuscany Boulevard and Crowchild Trail.  These new interchanges require no traffic signals on Stoney Trail or Crowchild Trail in this area and will provide improved access and safety while reducing travel time.

The City of Calgary has made plans to extend the Northwest LRT line to Rocky Ridge Road along the median of Crowchild Trail.  Additional information about the LRT can be found on their web site: Northwest LRT Extension.

Project Completion: Fall 2011
